Women at Pace

The Enduring History of Women at Pace

When Pace redesigned its seal in 1956 to reflect its new accredited college status, the figure of a woman was put front and center. She symbolizes wisdom.

The story of women at Pace begins in the earliest years of Pace Institute. It is a story that demonstrates Homer Pace's belief in the intellectual equality of women and men, but also fully reflects American society's attitude towards women and their changing role at home and in the workplace.

This exhibit traces the history and role of women at Pace as students, as members of the faculty and staff, and their general contribution to the growth of the university. When it can, it will also try to document some of the roles taken by our female graduates outside of Pace, carrying the name of Pace while trailblazing new frontiers of responsibilities and positions.
