There has been a burst of energy, innovation, and interest in new media, gaming, virtual worlds and other uses of technology in artistic expression, scholarly and creative works, and instruction. Students have embraced Web 2.0 technologies (YouTube and Flickr) and social networking (Facebook) media as a means of self‐expression and self‐definition. With the advent of the Three Year Plan and its emphasis on interdisciplinary interactions through the creation of Centers of Excellence, the time has come to bring interested faculty together to share their creative and scholarly work/research and artworks in progress and pedagogical innovations with colleagues.
